In October, 2026, we delivered 45 tons of S355J2WP weathering steel plates to a metal art fabricator in Germany, for a large public sculpture installed in a city park.
The plates, 5 mm to 20 mm thick and cut to the fabricator's nesting drawings, are bent and welded into curved ribs that form the sculpture shell. S355J2WP was specified by the artist's structural engineer for its stable patina and its good low-temperature toughness, so the uncoated surface could stay exactly as the design intends.

Before cutting, we agreed with the client on surface condition (mill scale left on for a uniform rust start), marking on the protected face only, and plate flatness for the curved segments. Every heat was delivered with EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates, and the copper content was kept within the narrow band the fabricator asked for, because a stable patina depends on it.
The nested parts were packed on timber bearers with edge protectors and shipped in one batch to Hamburg. The fabricator reported that forming and welding went smoothly and the first weathering samples already show an even, fine-grained patina.
If you are fabricating sculptures, landscape features or facade elements from S355J2WP or other corten grades, send us your cutting list for a quick quotation.
