DH36 is a high-strength hull structural steel suitable for low-temperature environments, belonging to the marine low-alloy steel series. It passes strict low-temperature impact toughness tests, meeting the construction requirements of ships operating in polar and cold sea areas.
The core feature of DH36 is its excellent low-temperature toughness, maintaining good impact resistance even at -40℃, avoiding the risk of cold brittleness. Its yield strength is comparable to AH36 (≥355MPa), but with refined grains and adjusted alloy elements, it offers superior toughness. Chemically, besides carbon (≤0.18%) and manganese (1.00%-1.70%), it often contains micro-alloys like niobium and vanadium to enhance strength, toughness, and weldability.
Applications include polar research vessels, LNG carriers, and offshore platforms operating in high-latitude regions. In cold sea areas, DH36 effectively ensures structural safety for ship decks, keels, and other components subject to low-temperature impacts. It is also used in port machinery and bridge components requiring low-temperature performance.
