EH36 is a high-end grade in marine high-strength low-alloy steels, designed for extreme marine environments, especially critical structures subject to high impact loads and low temperatures, complying with the strictest international classification society standards.
EH36 features exceptional low-temperature impact toughness and fatigue resistance, maintaining stable mechanical properties even at ultra-low temperatures of -60℃, with a yield strength exceeding 355MPa. Its chemical composition is precisely controlled, with carbon ≤0.16%, manganese 1.00%-1.70%, and nickel, chromium added to enhance corrosion resistance. Sulfur and phosphorus are kept at extremely low levels (≤0.025%) to ensure steel purity.
Applications focus on marine engineering in extreme environments, such as icebreakers, deep-sea drilling platforms, and polar transport vessels. In ship components like ice-breaking bows and anchor chain compartments subject to severe impacts, EH36 resists repeated loads and low-temperature erosion. It also serves in submarine pipelines and offshore wind structures requiring ultra-high reliability.
