If you're buying S355J2WP for a construction project in Europe, you'll see "CE" stamped on the material or listed on the certificate. But what does that marking actually guarantee? And is it just paperwork, or does it mean something for your project?

What CE marking means for S355J2WP.

CE marking indicates that the product complies with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) – Regulation (EU) No 305/2011. For structural steel, it's the manufacturer's declaration that the material meets the requirements of EN 10025-5, the harmonized European standard. It's not optional for most structural applications in Europe. Without CE marking, you cannot legally place the material on the EU market for permanent structures.

What CE marking doesn't mean.
