Properties of Weathering Steel 12MnCuCr

The environmental protection of 12MnCuCr weathering steel plate is highly valued in today's construction industry. Although steel contains elements such as Cu and P, its content is not high. Generally, the mass fraction of copper is controlled to 0.2% to 0.4%, which does not promote thermal cracking. The mass fraction of carbon and phosphorus in the phosphorus-containing steel is below 0.25%, so the cold-brittle tendency of the steel is not large, so the ordinary hot-rolled steel with good weldability and low welding process and strength grade (σs is 343-392 MPa) the same.

12MnCuCr Weathering Steel Plate Welding

Due to the poor tempering stability, carbon steel needs to adopt a lower tempering temperature in order to ensure higher strength when quenching and tempering treatment, so that the toughness of steel is low; in order to ensure better toughness, high tempering is adopted. The strength at the time of temperature is low, so the comprehensive mechanical performance level of carbon steel is not high. Strength and yield are relatively low. For example, the σs of ordinary carbon steel Q235 steel is 235 MPa, while the σs of low alloy structural steel 16Mn is 360 MPa or more. The σs /σb of 40 steel is only 0.43, which is much lower than that of alloy steel.
12MnCuCr Steel Chemical Composition 
12MnCuCr weathering steel is a series of low alloy steels between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel is made of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion-resistant elements such as copper and nickel. It has the characteristics of high-quality steel such as toughness, plastic elongation, forming, welding, abrasion, high temperature and fatigue resistance. The weather resistance is 2 for carbon steel. ~8 times, the coating performance is 1.5 to 10 times that of ordinary carbon steel. At the same time, it has the characteristics of rust resistance, anti-corrosion and life extension, thinning and reducing consumption, saving labor and energy. After adding trace elements such as phosphorus, copper, chromium and nickel to the steel, the surface of the steel is formed into a dense and highly protective film, which hinders the diffusion and development of the rust, and protects the substrate under the rust layer to slow down the corrosion rate. Weathering steel is mainly used for steel structures such as railways, vehicles, bridges, and towers that have been exposed to the atmosphere for a long time. Structural parts used in the manufacture of containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, seaport buildings, oil production platforms, and containers containing hydrogen sulfide corrosion media in chemical petroleum equipment.
12MnCuCr Steel Plate Rust Removing 
12MnCuCr weathering steel plate to remove metal surface corrosion substances called rust removal. There are five main methods for weathering steel sheets: (1) manual rust removal. Mainly hand hammer, shovel, knife, wire brush, coarse cloth (paper), a method to treat the rusted metal surface and achieve the rust removal requirements. (2) Descaling of power tools. Also known as semi-mechanical descaling, it is mainly a method of using a wind (electric) moving brush wheel or various types of descaling machines to treat the rusted surface and achieve the rust removal requirements. (3) Spraying or projecting derusting (also known as shot blasting, refer to Mingbang Heavy Industry shot blasting equipment). Mainly by means of oil-free compressed air (or high pressure water). (4) Chemical descaling (also known as pickling and rust removal). It is mainly a method of brushing (spraying) with an inorganic dilute acid solution, soaking a surface with a rusted metal, and achieving the purpose of derusting. (5) Rust removal agent. A method of removing rust on a metal surface by chemical reaction by brushing or immersing it on a rusted metal surface with a weakly acidic chemical liquid (ie, a rust remover).
