Delivery status and surface quality of ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate

ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate delivery status: the steel plate is delivered in hot rolling or controlled rolling state, and normalizing or tempering treatment is allowed.
In order to improve the toughness of ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate, cooling method faster than cooling rate in air is allowed. However, the ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate shall be tempered, and the tempering temperature range is 1100 ~ 1300°F (595 ~ 705 ℃), which shall be indicated in the material list.

ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate surface quality:
The surface of ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate shall be free of bubbles, scabs, cracks, folds, inclusions and pressed iron oxide scales, and there shall be no delamination.
The surface of ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate is allowed to have a thin layer of oxide scale and rust which does not hinder the surface inspection.

The insignificant roughness, scratch, netting caused by roll and other local defects caused by falling off of pressed iron oxide scale are allowed to exist. However, the thickness of ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate shall not exceed half of the thickness tolerance, and the minimum thickness of steel plate shall be ensured. ASTM A709 grade 50W steel plate is allowed to eliminate surface defects by grinding, but welding repair is not allowed.
